Last December this amazing place called Puntarenas gave me a really amazing experience. It is the capital city of Puntarenas province of Costa Rica country. It is one of the best fishing ports and the place is also a magnet for surfers.
The first place to visit there was Manuel Antonio Park as I had heard a lot about it. Being part of the list of worlds’ 12th most beautiful national parks by Forbes has four beaches which have white sand and coral reefs. Moreover, it has a dense tropical forest with wide varieties of species. Hoffmann’s two-toed sloth, Capuchin, black spiny-tailed iguana, and many more mammals along with hundreds of species of birds, this place is suitable for hiking too. My whole day was beautifully spent there.
In the morning I woke up to local breakfast Gallo Pinto which is a nice combination of rice and beans with eggs and I was all ready for exploration. I spent hours surfing in beaches and then had Casado (another rice and bean dish with meat) for lunch along with Churchill, an ice-cream dessert for which the place is famous. Being a football lover, I couldn’t stop myself to visit the local football club. The city is really committed to football and has achieved heights. After the match, I set out to watch a beautiful sunset. The city is known to have mesmerizing sunsets and it turned out to be true.
Next day as I wanted to explore the culture of the place I went to Casa Fiat, a culture center which exhibitions, performances, and workshops. And then I headed to Casa de la Cultura an art gallery and then to Museo Histórico Marino de la Ciudad de Puntarenas a museum. The day ended with a few more surfing.
I wanted to make the end of the tour to this place to be best. So, I reserved my day for Isla Tortuga Cruise. It is a cruise trip to Isla Tortuga, a beach place. I also visited other national parks (like Corcovado National Park), forests (like Monteverde Cloud Forest) and the Osa Peninsula. I would like to suggest tourist enthusiast to avoid going there on rainy days as the rain may ruin your day.
